Christmas blues with Tweenagers?

December 7, 2010

Little Miss Brown

The other day I spotted a story in the Sydney Morning Herald about a new fashion designer who after experiencing a Christmas nightmare trying to find clothes for her tween kids, that is kids who are between the ages of 9 and 13, decided to take matters into her own hands.

Renee Lee started to design age appropriate, fashionable clothes for this niche group.  Recognising that most lines miss this age group with many of the looks being too young, or too old for the kids.  I totally understand this issue, Zoe is twelve and is very aware of her own fashion style.  She doesn’t want to be dressed in puffy cotton dresses with cute bows and she doesn’t want the skimpy curvy clothes that older teens are wearing.

So where to go?

Little Mouse Brown – Renee Lee’s vintage inspired tween collection in Brisbane for girls and boys between 8 and 12

City Beach Surf – Located around Australia, they have a great range of t-shirts and beach wear which is fashionable for tweens and teens alike!

Metalicus – Have a ‘Miss’ range specifically designed for tween girls.

If you know of others, let us know!
