Holiday movies tainted vintage

December 22, 2010

For a long time the historical novel has been one of the most popular for literary writers, and in the movies too there is always a scattering of historical films to select from and this year is no different, and that means, lots of fantastic vintage fashion to drool over regardless of how good the movie is!  Three of the historical movies hitting the big screens this summer include:

Angelina Jolie in The Tourist

1. The Tourist – Set in the 1950’s The Tourist tells the story of Frank Tupelo (Johnny Depp), an American maths teacher on holiday in Italy when a case of mistaken identity sees him caught up in espionage.  Elise Clifton-Ward (Angelina Jolie) is the beautiful heroine!

2. The King’s Speech – Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush) is a speech therapist in the 1930s and helps Albert, Duke of York with his stammer.  There are loads of adverts on television for this movie at the moment and Helena Bonham Carter who plays Albert’s wife is stunning!

3. True Grit – Based on the 1968 novel by Charles Portis this is a story about headstrong Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) who wants to avenge her father’s murder.  It is set in the 1870s and features Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon.
