Ode to Audrey

April 20, 2011

Audrey Hepburn captivated the audiences with her slender figure, aristocratic manners and graceful movements, representing not only a new look but also a new femininity. With her boyish body, pixie haircut and swan neck she complemented everything she wore. Decades ago, Audrey secured her place as a fashion icon who embodied poise, elegance, and confidence.

Audrey enchanted the world with elegance and innocent charm,she is remembered as a natural talent, a timeless beauty and a great humanitarian.

Audrey Hepburn was born Audrey Kathleen Ruston on May 4, 1929 in Ixelles, Belgium. She is best known for her role in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and has graced the cover of top magazines such as Vogue, Bazaar, Life, and People.  After winning an Oscar in 1953 for Roman Holiday, Audrey Hepburn became one of the most photographed actresses of all time.The style of dress featured by Hepburn in her films strongly influenced the fashion of the period as her clothes and accessories were widely copied.

I came across a hauntingly accurate makeup tutorial on YouTube that lets savvy women in on the secret of how to achieve Audrey’s timeless signature look and thought I would share this great video from Pixiwoo, makeup bloggers extraordinaire;

For fabulous dresses reminiscent of Audrey’s style era, have a look around the  Covelli boutique.
