Queens of Vintage: Christina Aguilera

May 13, 2011

One cannot talk about modern day Queens of Vintage without uttering the name, Christina Aguilera. It’s been over a decade since the singer bade farewell to a successful Disney career and sprung into the music scene and world at large. There is nothing shy or retreating about her. With her signature curls and wavy locks she channels  a very particular style that is distinctly hers yet eerily reminiscent of the glam 50’s.

Brunette curls

Short strawberry blonde curls with red lip

Platinum blonde curls a la Marilyn

We have seen the metamorphosis of a youthful and defiant girl in ripped clothes and dip-dyed hair to an uber glam young lady. Her signature hairstyle is the a platinum blonde bombshell look, that transports us back to Marilyn Monroe’s time. Christina has white blonde cascading vintage style curls, she is a girl of extremes usually exchanging her platinum locks for jet black hair or even a bit of both.

Her recent performance in the film ‘Burlesque‘ left no doubt whatsoever as to where her fashion loyalties lie.  Christina Aguilera therefore gets my vote as a bona fide Queen of Vintage.

Hi Sheila, so pleased you enjoy reading about the Vintage era.. It was an era that was about romance and love where the men adored women and women dressed to allure the men in a sexy but classy way. So pleased to see it it coming back.
