Celebrating the Australian Day

January 25, 2012

Once again, Australia Day is soon approaching. A day filled with festivities and happiness that all Australians look forward to each year. Basically, Australia Day is celebrated annually on the 26th of January as a commemoration of the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788 and the proclamation at that time of British Sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of New Holland.

So what do people do during Australia Day? People in Australia make sure that they make this day extra special. Camaraderie and a sense of nationalism are being practiced by each and everyone by having fun and celebrating things that are purely Australian.

Besides all the pleasure that everybody is enjoying, people are also looking forward to host the famous Australian BBQ. Not only that, they also make sure that the drinks are ice-cold and the fresh
prawns are ready to be grilled.

All the fun and excitement are not complete without dressing up the Aussie way! So what do people usually wear on Australia Day?

People usually dress casually with a cool, chic sense on Australia Day. Denim, maxi skirts, dresses, and loose-fitting tanks and tops are the way to do it. A nice hat and a pair of sunglasses are also essential so as to prevent the sunlight from ruining your day. Make it more Australian with a pair of ‘scoops’, a splash of green and gold, and an Aussie flag!

The day is made to enjoy, be happy, and dress the way you want to with a touch of comfort. Happy Australia Day! Cheers!
