There are different theories about picking the right eye shadow, but ultimately it’s about picking shades that intensify and enhance your natural eye color. In reality, there are no strict rules when choosing eye shadow colors, but on the back of your mind, you want to have a few tips that will help guide in the right direction. Here are a few of them. If you have brown eyes, you should know that brown eyes have a tendency to get lost. The key to that is to brighten them. Use contrasting colors. You would like to use grays, purples, and blue eye shadows. They will definitely look gorgeous on you and they could really help bring your brown eyes to life. Avoid using brown eye shadows because dark eyes need a little bit more color. For blue eyes, on the other hand, you would want to use contrasting shades and darker colors to really enhance the blue color and intensify it as well. Use eye shadows that have shades of brown- chocolate, caramel and the likes- they really help bring out the blue and make them more vivid. With blue eyes, there’s nothing to worry about because any eye shadow color will work.

Unlike with the blue or the brown eye where we are using contrasting eye shadow colors to really make them come to life, with the green or hazel eye, it would be preferable to use colors within the same family. You would love to see yourself putting on shades of khaki, green, mustard, and olive. There is an old-school rule that purples and lavenders work best on green or hazel eyes, but today, there are so many more options so we don’t have to restrict ourselves into selecting just a few colors. Just an added tip on using green eye shadow color on green eyes: If you’re going to do that, you might want to lean towards using more on the olive colors because they look more natural and enhance the eyes better.

There is really no right or wrong in choosing eye shadow colors, but these are some great options if you want to enhance your natural eye color.
