A look back to 1950’s Easter bonnet fashions

March 15, 2011

I figured as Easter was not too far away, I went in search of some vintage Easter inspiration.

Whether you are going to church or an Easter Parade in your local community, your outfit wouldn’t be complete without an Easter bonnet.

I found on Hubpages this useful guide on the styles of vintage Easter hats.

Traditionally, Easter introduces Spring fashion in the northern hemisphere but that doesn’t stop us in the southern hemisphere to get into the spirit of Easter.

Back in the days, wide brimmed hats were all the rage decorated with flowers, birds and ribbons.  This was to celebrate Spring in all it’s glory.

Also common, were straw hats as these were much cooler to wear in the Spring as Summer.

I was searching through vintage clip archives and found this Universal Newsreel on Easter Bonnet Fashions in the 1950’s.
